The Central Florida Real Estate Attorneys’ Council (CFREAC) held their Annual Meeting on September 14^th at Historic Dubsdread Golf Club in Orlando.  The meeting featured Market, Industry & Underwriting Updates from Ernie Houck, Fund Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Analysis and Melissa Scaletta, Fund Vice President, Associate General Counsel & Chief Underwriting Counsel.  The meeting was held as a hybrid event, providing CFREAC members the option to attend in-person or online.

On July 8^th the Central Florida Real Estate Attorneys’ Council (CFREAC) welcomed Florida Realtors® Legislative Counsel Trey Goldman and H. French Brown, IV, from Dean Mead's Tallahassee office to share their considerable insights into the 2021 Florida Legislative Session.

On May 12th, the North Dade & Beaches REC hosted a program discussing the evolving landscape of employment law due to the pandemic, entitled Requirements to Keep Your Real Estate Practice Safe in COVID Times.  It was a truly timely topic which the Members could apply to the daily management of their firms.

On March 23^rd, West Palm Beach Attorney Manuel Farach presented his very popular Annual Real Estate & Business Case Law Review to members of Capital Region, Emerald Coast, Escambia, Jacksonville and North Florida in what was described as a “Great North Florida Mega-REC Event”!  This two-hour, Florida Bar accredited, review of case law is geared toward the real estate and business practitioner. Categories discussed included case law on contracts, title issues, corporate governance and litigation disputes, real estate covenants, fraud as it affects real estate and business disputes, consumer protection laws, bankruptcy, federal claims, foreclosure, and land development issues.

The North Dade & Beaches REC hosted their first event of the year on January 13^th when they featured a program discussing various aspects of the PPP Loan Forgiveness Application, a topic of great importance to many law firms and title companies.

The Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Palm Beach County collaborated with the 15^th Circuit At-Large Member from the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar (RPPTL) to invite RPPTL members to the REC’s December 3^rd Member Meeting.  Over 100 attorneys attended a very timely presentation of Evictions: Where We Are and Where We’re Headed featuring Cindy Guerra, Chief Operating Officer of Courts & Official Records, Clerk of Court, Palm Beach County and Kathy Savor, Esq., Director of Court Operations, Clerk of Court, Palm Beach County.  Speakers addressed the pipeline of eviction cases in their system and how they were being handled, along with the various Federal, Florida and Palm Beach County regulations and orders they are operating under.

On September 17^th the Bay Area Real Estate Council welcomed Fund General Counsel Melissa Jay Murphy who presented an update on Remote Online Notary.

On July 17^th the Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Miami-Dade County hosted a member meeting over ZOOM featuring a presentation on the Eviction and Foreclosure Moratorium.

The Broward REC continues to thrive despite the scourge of Covid-19! They are hosting Open Forums via ZOOM. The Forums, which are now held once per week, provide an opportunity for BAREC Members to connect and discuss the issues of the day. In addition, BAREC is presenting Ask an Attorney, live Q&A panel discussions every Monday morning for their local Realtor® association.

The Volusia Real Property Council welcomed Jay St. Lawrence, Fund Legal Education Attorney to their meeting on March 5^th where he presented Digital Closings & Remote Online Notarization for a packed house of over fifty members.
