On January 18^th, the Southwest Florida Real Estate Council held it’s first event in Naples since the merger with the Naples Marco Area REC.  It was the first REC event in Naples in 9 years, and it was standing room only.  The event featured a presentation of Can You TRUST Your Homestead by Fund Senior Underwriting Counsel Ben Jepson.  The program addressed issues involved with holding title to homestead property in a trust.

Manny Farach, presented his very popular Annual Real Estate and Business Case Law Update to the Polk Area Real Estate Council on May 5^th.

On December 5th the Jacksonville Area Real Estate Council kicked off the holiday season at the River Front Café overlooking the St. Johns River with Katie Mitura, Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Visit Jacksonville. Mitura presented a lively overview of the efforts to expand convention, business and tourism opportunities across the area.

After a year of historic real estate activity fueled by a combination of demographics and the pandemic, the Florida real estate market appears to be taking a pause.  Add to that, a flurry of interest rate increases by the Federal Reserve, to get a handle on the highest inflation in 40 years, and you’ve got yourself a good old fashioned economic slowdown.  While you may not want to celebrate that, it does present some opportunities to focus on aspects of your practice that you may have been neglecting – like Marketing.

The Florida ARECS Board of Directors met on February 24th in Orlando and reviewed our strategic objectives and how the organization can best serve REC members going forward. Since its inception in 2014, Florida ARECS has focused on these strategic priorities:

On May 11th The Florida ARECS Board of Directors hosted its annual REC Leadership Forum preceding the start of Fund Assembly in Orlando.

On May 10^th the Board of Directors of the Attorneys’ Real Estate Councils of Florida hosted the Annual Florida ARECS Leadership Forum at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort in conjunction with Fund Assembly.

We were recently asked by Florida Realtors® to describe what Attorneys’ Real Estate Councils of Florida (“Florida ARECS”) does in 35 words or less for a promotional piece that will go out later this year.
