An efficient law office gathers information, creates transaction files and manages them with logical organization and operational security.  The assortment of information which is processed includes financial and other Nonpublic Personal Information (NPI). Safeguarding NPI is an essential component of an attorney’s duty of confidentiality and is governed by federal law.

This webinar will focus on the parameters of information security and their applicability to practitioners and others.  Relevant rules on confidentiality, safeguarding information, and proper disposal will be presented.  The webinar will consider procedures related to the security of paper and electronic files, proper disposal techniques, responsibilities associated with the use of third-party providers, and disaster management.  Sample policies related to electronic files and record retention and destruction will be reviewed.
