Luck, Legal Ed & A Big Loss

Hello Members!

I have survived the first weekend of March Madness with my soul intact, even though my Gators lost. They fought valiantly, but you can't compete with luck (which is the life force to which I attribute Colorado's winning shot.) I did, however, come away with several thoughts.

  • First, a new strategy to deal with your competitors. Just "box them out!"
  • Second, I never need to see a cowboy-themed underwear commercial ever again.

You had to watch basketball all weekend to understand the above.

Let's move on to more serious things………..

Legal Education Opportunities.  I probably don't mention our Legal Education offerings enough, so I will try and make up for that omission here.  You can't find a better, more engaged Legal Education department than the one here at The Fund. Headed up by Michael Rothman and supported by Jay St. Lawrence, Linda Monaco and Kara Scott, they never stop coming up with great programs to help you and your staff be the best you can be. April is Tax Month for most of us and there are some great programs being offered.  Here's a flyer that tells you what you need to know. https://www.thefund.com/april-is-tax-month.pdf

R. James Knox. Jim Knox, a well respected and beloved claims attorney with The Fund, passed away on March 23, 2024. Jim came to The Fund in 1973 and was subsequently promoted to Vice President and Claims Manager, where he served for many years. He retired in July 2004. Jim was a favorite speaker at Fund events. Jim will always be remembered for his colorful language and sayings like "This is a gold-plated slam dunk case!" I personally will remember him as the person who taught me how to chain a title at a UF Law workshop, a skill that has served me very well over the years. He will be missed by so many. There will be an article in the May issue of the Concept to more fully honor Jim and his legacy.  Services will be held on May 4, 2024, at 4:00 pm at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Apopka.

That's all for this week.

Let me know how we can help you.
