Gators, Rory, Resources & More!

Hello Members!

So much to celebrate. Gators are National Champions! Rory got the green jacket! It's been a great month for me and my favorite athletic events. And many of your emails have included something about the Gator victory. It's been great to know that I have so many fellow Gators out there!

Anti-Fraud Resources. The presence of possible fraud in your transaction is something that you live with every day. It is really important that you be ready to spring into action if an incident occurs involving one of your pending deals. I've gotten a little bit of feedback recently that Members aren't quite sure what to do, who to call, or what steps to take to "fix" something. For this reason, I thought it would be helpful to remind everyone of the resources we have to help you prepare an action plan (with phone numbers for who you need to contact, etc.) and generally educate you and your staff about red flags. We also have new resources about processes and procedures that you should adopt in order to properly address this continuing threat to your business. Legislation. While there has been a lot going on during this legislative session and bills are being passed, there is nothing too critical to the title industry so far……but there is still time for something to pop up, so we continue to closely monitor bills and any amendments that are proposed. Fund Assembly is a really good way for you to get up to date on any new laws, so……

Fund Assembly Registration Ends April 23! If you have not yet registered for Assembly, NOW IS THE TIME!  This is the absolute best way for you to get CLE, learn from the best experts around AND have a wonderful experience networking with your fellow Fund Members. We are doing things a little differently this year: starting earlier on Thursday (11:00 am) and ending earlier on Saturday (10:30 am). The Thursday reception will be a lot more casual and family-friendly this year but bring your fancy clothes because we are having quite the special party Friday night! Our Member Appreciation Gala will celebrate the accomplishments of your fellow Fund Members outside the practice of law. New Geographic Targeting Order. FinCEN has renewed the current Geographic Targeting Order. Nothing has changed except the reference that you put on the Currency Transaction Report (needs to be REGTO0425 in Part IV of the CTR).
