Virtual Activities; Real Opportunities

Learn the latest from Fund General Counsel Melissa Jay Murphy

Dear Members,

Assembly 2021 is just around the corner.  And while it is virtual again this year, it really is going to be a great experience.  We have made changes in the format so that you don't have to be at your computer monitor all day long, we have some great networking opportunities and the Expo this year is really cool.  Really.  And I think the program this year is phenomenal……the sessions you know and love are back but we have some new programs for you, too.  One in particular is our keynote presentation by Mark Eiglarsh on a topic you don't normally see at Assembly.  Here is a link to a short video to tell you all about it. https://www.thefund.com/assembly/conference/speakers.aspx

Virtual Audits of Members.  The pandemic shut down our ability to visit with you personally at your office……and this resulted in all audits having to be conducted remotely.  Here's a message from our Risk Management folks about audits.  In order to keep Fund Members and The Fund’s Audit staff safe during the pandemic, The Fund developed a Virtual Audit to take the place of audits done in the Members’ offices.  When you are selected for a Virtual Audit, the auditor will ask that you upload your reconciliations and several closing files to a secure ShareFile account. The Auditor will review this information and will provide you with an audit report.

It is important that Fund Members cooperate by providing all of the requested information promptly.  We realize and appreciate that Fund Members are busy with new transactions, but need your assistance to complete our audits to keep your practices and your clients’ funds and transactions safe.

We look forward to a point in the future when the Fund Auditors will be able to visit your offices again and meet with you in person.  Until then, we will continue to perform Virtual Audits.

Real Estate Professional Program - enroll now!  The Real Estate Paraprofessional Certification program we created in partnership with Seminole State College will begin its summer session May 10th.  The four-course program includes two courses on real property, a transaction course using The Fund’s ATIDS XE and E-Closing DT software, and a practicum involving an internship.  Students may intern at their place of employment if the business qualifies and agrees.  The year-long program is a good fit for those new to our industry who are seeking to advance.  Employers who are looking to hire graduates can post a job description on the free Career Center platform called Handshake.  Registration for the summer session ends May 3rd.  Here is a link to more information:  Earn Your Real Estate Paraprofessional Certificate

That's all for this week.  Let me know how we can help you.
