Ch. 9 – Getting Started

Description

The commencement of a real estate practice and the processing of new files can be bewildering to the inexperienced practitioner. To assist new agents, we present Getting Started to familiarize new title agents on what is needed to start a closing practice and the critical components and touch-points of opening a new file. Getting started means more than being appointed by a title insurance underwriter as an issuing agent, purchasing closing software, and obtaining errors & omissions insurance. It includes more mundane and practical concerns, including understanding your market, choosing a bank to hold your real estate trust account, and hiring needs and staffing concerns.
