Property Alert Services, Foreign Interests Update & Fund Commercial Training

Hello Members!
Lots of stuff is happening that I think is worthy of your attention, not the least of which is that Thanksgiving is over, which means the holidays and year-end are coming soon. Hope you have your coping tools ready to go (whatever they may be)! Always a stressful time……
Register your property for the free property alert service. Here is a very helpful link for the "Free Property Alert Service" offered by all of the counties. www.FLClerks.com/page/propertyalertservices You should provide this to every buyer and encourage them to register. Better yet, provide them with a specific link to the applicable county where their property is located. The previous link gives you information for all of the counties that are up and running. This is a great way to demonstrate that you are part of an industry that cares about protecting consumers from the fraudsters! Share the link!
Update/status on foreign interests in real property. Here is a link to a good summary of where we are on the implementation of SB 264. It was authored by Kevin Koushel with Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axeldor LLP in Miami. https://www.bilzin.com/we-think-big/insights/publications/2023/11/updates-on-sb-264-proposed-rules
The article is pretty current and the only thing I have to add is that while the rules and registration forms have not been finalized, the websites for each agency are now live and apparently a Foreign Principal can now register. Here are the links:
- Department of Commerce:

Michael Rothman and I are working on a popup webinar in which we hope to demonstrate how to navigate through to register a foreign principal. Fingers crossed that we can make that happen soon!
Commercial Transaction Training. The Fund is offering its final commercial training class next week, December 6–8. Since its rollout in 2019, Fund Commercial Training has trained over 500 Members in the particulars of commercial transactions. It’s a great program, offered live online, and I highly recommend it to you and members of your staff that have a fairly high level of experience closing transactions. Here’s the link to register:

That's all for this week. Let me know how we can help you.
