A Resource, a Request & a Must Do

Dear Members,

Summer is here!  Hope you are all doing well, taking some time off for yourself and/or with friends and family.  I have just a few things to share with you today so this is a quick read or listen.

Driver license number verification.  Here is a resource (free!) to check whether a driver license number is valid.  This resource will NOT give you the name of the person associated with that DL number; it merely tells you a few bits of information:  whether the number is valid; if valid, the expiration date, restrictions (corrective lenses) and provides links to other information.  Is this useful?  Somewhat.  It is possible that a fraudster could steal a valid license number and put it on a fake license they create that looks quite real.  If you went to this website, it would tell you that the license number is valid.  But the other available bits of information might help you determine whether the ID presented is suspicious.  We are not telling you that you must do this in every situation.  Just offering this up as a resource for you to use as you deem appropriate.  Here's the link: https://mydmvportal.flhsmv.gov/home/en/publicweb/dlcheck/

Title Agent in Charge verification.  If you do business through a licensed title agency (and not your law firm), you must update the name of your agency's title agent in charge by July 20, 2021 or your license will be cancelled!  You must do this via your MyProfile account on the website for Department of Financial Services.  Previously, changes were submitted in writing.  But you must now do this electronically.  Here is a link to a page on the website that will be helpful. https://www.myfloridacfo.com/division/agents/Licensure/myProfileHelp/default.htm

Premium remittances to The Fund.  With the significant increase in closing volume you are handling, the number of policies and premium checks you are sending to us has also significantly increased.  Right now, we have a backlog of policies and checks to process.  Our Finance Customer Service Team is working as hard as they can to keep their heads above water.  Here is my ask:  be patient….we will get your check processed! Please do not stop payment and do not call to inquire as to why it has not yet cleared your bank.  We are harnessing every available resource here at The Fund to help with this effort!  If you have any questions about this matter, please feel free to reach out to me.
