Summer is basically over, isn't it?  I hope you had a great one and had the chance to take some time off to be with friends and family.  Football season is coming……..

e-recording update.  Many of you recently received notification of a fee increase from your e-recording vendor.  I have an alternative for you to consider.  Old Republic’s family of technology companies includes ePN, an e-recording provider.  They offer really good pricing to Fund Members ($4.00 per document and no additional maintenance, service or annual fees).  And they are integrated with ClosingVue, RamQuest, SoftPro and several other closing softwares. They cover most counties in Florida so if you are interested, email Janine McCabe at janine@goepn.com and see if you can benefit from their service!

Foreign interests in real property/SB 264.  A couple of updates for you today.  First, many of you have asked about the process/rules for a foreign principal to comply with their registration requirements under the new law.  We recently were notified that rule making is "under development."  This is the typical process for an agency to follow.  The next step would be either:  (a) notice of a rulemaking workshop, at which the agency would discuss with interested parties an initial draft of the rule or at least key concepts; or (b) publication of a Notice of Proposed Rule, which will contain the proposed rule text and will announce a public hearing on the proposed rule or the opportunity for an affected party to request such a hearing.  We will participate in the process and keep you informed.

Attorney Value Campaign.  Our consumer-focused Attorney Value Campaign has launched -  "My Real Estate Attorney Saved the Day!"    We are pushing this message out through various social media channels and through internet online searches. Outdoor digital billboards, too, in Miami and Tampa.  Consumers need to know how real estate attorneys can help them avoid big problems with their transaction.
