TitleNow Webinars Return NEXT Week & Input Sought on Redaction Issues

Get the latest updates, including another homework assignment, from Melissa Jay Murphy

Dear Members,

I have a few things on my mind this week; none of them are breaking news but that doesn't mean there isn't stuff worth mentioning!

Redaction of Public Records:  Florida law allows certain categories of public employees the option to redact information from the public records indicating where they (and their families) live.  Are you being asked to assist a client …or perhaps a buyer……with redaction of their real estate documents?  I would like to hear about your experience!  There are serious constructive notice issues with the new definition of "home address" and I am trying to get a sense of what is going on out in the market.  Just shoot me an email at mmurphy@thefund.com

Return of TitleNow PopUp Webinars!  I am excited to kick off the next season of Title Now PopUp Webinars on Tuesday, October 27.  Since October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, it is appropriate that my guest is Tom Cronkright, with CertifID.  Tom is very knowledgeable about how cyber criminals have successfully targeted businesses just like yours.  He will have information about how it works, new schemes and what you can do to protect yourself.  30 minutes.  Noon.  Tuesday, October 27.  FREE! Here is a link to register https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8639069977467751436

Cyber Criminals looking forward to the Holidays!  It's getting to be that time of year where we do lots of shopping on-line, which results in more opportunity for cyber criminals to send out fake emails from stores and other merchants.  These fake emails might promote a special offer or sale…….but the link they invite you to click on is not special at all…..could be a link to malware that infects your network and lets the criminals into your system.  Be alert!

Election/ballot initiatives.  There is so much focus in the media about the candidate races - local, state and national.  So you do your prep, decide who you will vote for, pack a snack and head to the polls……only to get in the voting booth and realize there are several ballot initiatives you should have researched also!  Augh!  What to do??????  Here is a suggestion.  Here is a link to the Division of Elections booklets on the initiatives (https://dos.myflorida.com/elections/forms-publications/publications/) so you can be fully prepared when you get to the polls.  It is so important to vote….and it is important to be an educated voter.

That's all for this week.
