Step Back and Take Five

I know what you’re really doing.

Dear Members,

This blog posting is different.  It doesn't have any information in it that you need to know, no changes in the law, no new underwriting guidelines or new fraud schemes to scare you.

So why are you sending this message, Murphy?  Why are you wasting my time?  Because you should occasionally slow down and think about what you do every day, why you do it and why it is so important.  It can really put things in perspective.

I know you spend your days dealing with details, lots of details.  You examine title commitments, prepare documents, review contracts, look at surveys, order lien searches, order payoffs, prepare closing statements…..and on and on and on.  And the emails…..on my gosh, the emails!  Then you explain documents to buyers, sellers, realtors, make changes to those documents, cut 35 checks just to disburse a cash closing, balance your trust account…….

And when you are done with this, you schmooze with potential referral partners to get MORE of these deals into your office.

Yes, this is what you do all day long, every day.

What are you REALLY doing?  What is the reason behind or the essence of what this all means? Here's what I think.  You protect property rights.  How?  You make sure that buyers and sellers are given an efficient, secure, reliable, professional, accurate and safe transaction.   You are helping sellers downsize, upsize, or move to a better job in another town.  You are helping buyers buy the home they have always wanted, achieve the American Dream and give them the chance to create a safe, happy home for their family.

Yes, this is what you do. So take a moment to think about how important this is - to our society, to our economy, to making Florida a place where people can confidently invest in real property.  Think about how important this is to everyone.

That's all.  I just wanted to suggest that you take a moment or two and step outside of your to-do list and reflect.  You should feel great about what you do every day!

Thank you for what you do for The Fund.

As always, let me know what we can do to help.
