FinCEN’s Residential Real Estate Reporting Rule went into effect March 1, 2026, and requires “reporting persons,” most often settlement agents, to submit reports through the BSA e-filing portal, providing information on buyers, sellers, the property, and funds where an ownership interest in 1-4 family residential property is transferred to a business entity or  trust  without financing through an institution obligated to maintain an anti-money laundering program and to report suspicious transactions.
