Message from the President

By: Jeffrey P. Zane, President

The Florida ARECS Board of Directors met on November 19, 2020 and here a few key highlights from that meeting.

  • New Board Member

The passing of founding Board Member Lynwood F. Arnold, Jr. in August created a vacant seat and the Florida ARECS Board of Directors is pleased to announce the election of Denis Cohrs to fill the remainder of Mr. Arnold’s term.  Mr. Cohrs is the founding partner of The Cohrs Law Group, P.A. He earned his law degree at Stetson University College of Law in 1984 and has been admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida. Mr. Cohrs is Board Certified in Real Estate by The Florida Bar and his practice focuses on all aspects of real estate law including residential and commercial transactions. He is a member of the Real Property Probate & Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Real Estate Council.

    FLARECS.COM Dashboard

The FLARECS.COM Dashboard will be a back-office utility allowing RECs to manage all of their various administrative functions in one place.  It will include functionality to manage Membership and Communication, including a group list serve for each REC that would like one.  The project has been delayed several times due to competing priorities, however it is back on schedule for 2021 and we look forward to rolling out the various features as they become available.

    Council of Presidents

The Council of Presidents is a great resource for current and incoming REC Presidents.  Florida ARECS Board Member Erin Prete is leading these bi-monthly meetings, which have so far focused on the President’s role within the individual REC, yearly dues and program fees, utilizing sponsorships to support member programming, making Zoom meetings fun and how to create traction and increase membership. Some of the REC Presidents agreed to share their bylaws with others and open attendance to their respective programs with neighboring RECs. The next meeting will take place on January 13th.

Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section Sponsorship

The Board is pleased to announce that, with the support of The Fund, it has renewed Florida ARECS’ sponsorship of the Residential Real Estate & Industry Liaison Committee (RREIL) Committee for 2021.  REC Manager Rene’ Rutan presented an update on Florida ARECS accomplishments at the December 3rd RREIL Committee meeting held virtually over ZOOM.  Highlights included examples of Professional Development, Community Service and Realtor® Outreach.

The next Florida ARECS Board Meeting will be held February 11, 2021.
