On July 23rd the Broward Attorneys’ Real Estate Council hosted a Law Symposium in partnership with the South Broward Board of Realtors® using the new Florida ARECS Standardized Law Symposium materials.  More than 50 real estate agents learned about topics ranging from Emotional Support AnimalsProbate and a Comparison of the FRBAR Standard & AS-IS Contracts from REC Member attorneys Khila Khani, Nikeisha Pryor, Michael Quarequio, Nicole Villarroel and Tod Weston.

The Capital Region Real Estate Council partnered with the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar to present a Second Circuit Legislative Update featuring Sarah Butters, Esq. of Ausley McMullen, Trey Goldman, Esq., Legislative Counsel for Florida Realtors®, and H. French Brown, Esq. of Dean Mead.  They provided fascinating insight into what passed, what didn’t and why.

Fund General Counsel Melissa Murphy addressed Digital Closings and Remote Online Notarization with over 75 attendees at the Bay Area Real Estate Council Member meeting held August 6th at the Centre Club in Tampa.  Representatives from FLTA and NotaryCam, a digital closing platform provider, were also in attendance to offer additional information on evolving processes and technology tools to support them.

Later that evening, the Southwest Florida Real Estate Council welcomed Manuel Farach, Esq. to present his very popular Real Property Case Law and its Impact on Your Practice at the Collabratory in downtown Fort Myers.  RECs are always looking for venues that can serve their needs for both education, networking and this REC found an interesting one.  The Collabratory is operated by the Southwest Florida Community Foundation and provides a regional technology hub offering meeting and tenant spaces, social gathering and special events, all in a renovated Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot.  One of the rail lines still runs through the building!

On August 8th the Jacksonville Area Real Estate Council hosted a presentation by Jay St. Lawrence, Legal Education Attorney with The Fund, entitled There’s No Place Like Homestead at their quarterly meeting held at Season’s 52.  JAREC also welcomed 7 new members, many of whom were in attendance for their first meeting. Welcome new members!
