New RECs under construction! On September 28th, representatives from the Florida ARECS board, Melissa Murphy, The Fund’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel, and Rene’ Rutan, REC Relations Manager, met with small groups of attorneys in both Polk and Highlands Counties. The purpose of these meetings was to share the story of Florida ARECS with local Fund members and determine whether they want to establish a real estate council in their respective areas. Both groups elected to move forward and they will meet again on November 16th to begin the process of creating new RECs. Polk County is interesting because it is currently part of BAREC, the REC serving the Tampa Bay area, so they will be spinning-off to create their own local organization. We look forward to welcoming them both to Florida ARECS!

Florida Keys REC held its first event in sometime on October 20th in Marathon. They held a roundtable discussion addressing the Florida Keys Rider to the FR/BAR Contract followed by a networking reception. Turnout was tremendous! Thank you to REC President Erica Hughes-Sterling for putting together such a great meeting and Tom Wright for leading the roundtable. Their next meeting is being planned for February.

The Real Property Council of Volusia County continues to move forward. Congratulations to the new board: Trisha Dellinger, Joshua Wells, Maia Albrecht, Erin Wollett, Jim Pickens and Fred Share. They are planning a membership meeting for January so stay tuned!
