The ABCs of Digital Closings

Description:
The adoption and utilization of remote online notarization (RON) has ushered in the age of the fully digital real estate transaction. While still relatively small in number overall, the year-over-year increases in the registration of eNotes, and the vast sums now being invested in the infrastructure supporting the all-electronic closing foretells a future of the fully paperless closing transaction. Settlement agents, many of whom have already incorporated RON and e-recording into their practices, are well-advised to understand the mechanics of the digital closing, who and what are behind the drive towards the paperless transaction, and to understand their still-evolving role in the transaction.

This course explains the basics of the digital closing, the technology involved, and the role of various participants, including the real estate practitioner, in the inexorable movement towards bringing the real estate settlement practice into the digital age.
