Real estate practitioners and title agents are regularly called upon to opine on the application of the Florida Homestead Tax Exemption to various sets of facts. This course is designed to analyze issues presented by such myriad situations, including the criterion for claiming any one or more exemptions, the portability of tax savings, whether married Floridians residing separately can claim more than one homestead exemption, and the penalties for improperly claiming a homestead exemption. This intermediate-level webinar will also discuss more advanced issues pertaining to the homestead tax exemption, including the effect of divorce on the sharing of portable tax savings.
