Latest REC News - March & April 2024

The Polk Area Real Estate Council held their Annual Member Meeting and Elections on January 25 in downtown Lakeland.  Congratulations to Keith Wadsworth of Peterson & Myers, PA, who was elected President!

In early February, the Bay Area Real Estate Council held their Annual Economic Outlook Luncheon, which always features national, and state economic experts and this year was no exception.  Dr. Brad O’Connor, Chief Economist, Florida REALTORS presented his take on the Florida and Tampa Bay real estate markets.

On March 13, the Broward Attorneys’ Real Estate Council welcomed Fund General Counsel Melissa Murphy to the Lauderdale Yacht Club, to present her annual State of The Fund & Industry Update.  Murphy emphasized the challenges being faced by our industry as a result recent Federal action including GSE Title Waivers and the proposed nationwide expansion of the FinCEN GTO’s.

The Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Miami-Dade hosted its first event of the year on March 18 featuring a presentation on the Corporate Transparency Act.

On March 7, the Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Palm Beach County welcomed Manuel Farach, who presented his Annual Real Estate & Business Case Law Update at The Fund’s West Palm Beach Branch.

The Real Property Council of Volusia County held an Open House on March 19 at Dunes Brewery for attorney members and local Realtor® Association leaders.  The event provided a great opportunity for members to socialize and hear what local Realtors® thought about the recent NAR Settlement.

The Real Estate Council of Martin County held its first event since the pandemic shutdown on March 26.  The Open House welcomed real estate attorneys from across the area to meet the new Board of Directors and learn more about their plans for 2024, including Realtor® networking events and a presentation by Martin County Property Appraiser, Jenny Fields.
