Knowing that continuing education is vital to your practice remaining viable in the current marketplace, THE FUND once again demonstrated its commitment to providing substantive educational sessions and networking opportunities at the 44th annual Fund Assembly. Featuring a number of industry experts and an impressive program agenda, this year's attendees enjoyed a number of session favorites, including Dr. Hank Fishkind's annual market-by-market economic forecast and "Title Teasers," in addition to some fresh real estate law topics, including "green" buildings.

Fund members were able to learn about new product and service offerings at the Technology Central and Expo, to network with other FUND members from across the state, to compete in the annual golf tournament, and to enjoy new activities such as hearing The Subrogators, the live rock band made up of Fund members, staff and others, on Friday night.

Those who visited the Technology Central and Expo and had their validation card punched at each product demo station and exhibit booth were eligible to win one of two significant prizes-an Assembly Guest Package and a Rosen Shingle Creek Resort Package. The winners of the 2008 Assembly grand prizes were:

• Howard L. Kuker of Miami, who won the drawing for the 2009 Assembly Guest Package, which includes complimentary Assembly registration, hotel accommodations at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort during the Assembly, and all Assembly ticketed meal functions
• Greg Roberts of Klingbeil & Roberts, P.A. in Venice, who won the Technology Central & Expo raffle for a weekend stay and dinner for two at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, the location of the 2009 - 2012 Assemblies

Additionally, two of The Fund Connection service providers conducted their own prize drawings at their exhibit booths. The winners of those prizes were:

• David J. Kingsley of Kingsley & Kingsley, Plantation, who won the Employers Association of Florida, Inc. prize drawing for a $100 prepaid Visa card
• Robert Schimmel of Hessen, Schimmel, DeCastro, P.A., Miami, who won the Allied Group Insurance Services, Inc.

Following the Assembly general sessions, members had the opportunity to participate in the 7th Annual Fund Assembly Golf Tournament. Held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, the tournament was a very successful endeavor for a number of Fund members, including:

• 1st Place Team with a score of 62:

  Melanie Clegg
• Closest to the pin hole number 6 - Rich Meyer
• Longest drive hole number 13 - Bailey Browning

Though we are just months removed from the 2008 Fund Assembly, it's not too early to mark your calendars for next year's dates! The 2009 Fund Assembly will be held once again at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort (www.rosenshinglecreek.com) May 7-9, 2009. Look for Assembly 2009 general session program, registration and hotel information announcements to arrive by mail in early March 2009, as well as in Fund Concept and on this site.
